Frequently Asked Questions
Member's Section
What do I get when I subscribe to Doujin-Moe Exclusive?
Access to our full member's section, including over 13,000 doujins, h-mangas,
and CGsets. Our member's section works just like our free-section does. See the
subscribe page for details. You can login at
members.doujin-moe.us, or
doujin-moe.us/login.html.
How do I subscribe to Doujin-Moe Exclusive?
You get a Doujin-Moe Exclusive membership for free when you buy a
premium-membership at h-moe.com,
our sister-site. Your Doujin-Moe membership will last as long as your H-Moe
premium membership is still active.
Why does a membership cost $19.95 for the first month, but only $14.95 for each
additional month?
We thought it made more sense that way, and we wanted to establish a community
of long-time members, so we're rewarding our loyal members for sticking with us!
Are you going to raise your prices later?
When you signup, you'll be locked in at that price until you cancel--you won't
be charged more, even if we raise our prices later.
What will the charge look like on my bank / credit-card statement?
It will appear as something like "CCBill.com, 888-5969279, AZ *HMovie-Moe...",
since CCBill is the billing service we use and HMovie-Moe is our official name.
Is the purchase secure?
Yes, billing is handled entirely by CCBill, a third-party payment processor--we
never see your credit card or contact info at all. Your transaction will be
encrypted and processed safely and securely. And after you cancel, you won't be
charged again, ever.
How do I cancel my subscription?
You can cancel at any time. First, go to
h-moe.com, then login to
your account, and then click the "account" link at the top of the page, which
will take you to your account page. There you will find your Subscription
Number; you'll need that. Click the "Unsubscribe" button in your account page,
which will take you to CCBill's support page. Enter your account's e-mail
address and Subscription Number. On the next page, press "cancel subscription".
You should receive an e-mail from CCBill confirming your cancellation
afterwards. If you're having trouble canceling,
e-mail us and we'll cancel your
account for you.
What happens after I cancel?
After you cancel, you will not be charged again, and you will still have
premium-access until your last month expires. So, for example, if you were last
rebilled on March 16th, and you cancel on March 22nd, you will still have
premium-access until April 16th.
How can I check when my account's next rebill date will be?
You can check it in your account page at
h-moe.com by logging in and
clicking the "account" link at the top of the page. If you have cancelled your
account, you can also view the date when your account will expire. (Note that it
may take up to 2 hours to update this information after signup or cancellation.)
Why did my membership expire when I didn't cancel it?
This usually happens when your account fails to rebill automatically. This is
usually due to an expired credit card, insufficient funds in your account, or
your bank simply declining the charges thinking it's a fraudulent transaction.
You can consult your bank about the issue or try signing up again, possibly
using a different payment method.
How do I change my payment information?
Go to h-moe.com, login to
your account, and then click the "account" link at the top of the page. There
you will find your Subscription Number; you'll need that. Click the
"Unsubscribe" button in your account page, which will take you to CCBill's
support page. Enter your account's e-mail address and Subscription Number. On
the next page, press "Update Payment Information".
I'm having trouble signing up?
Sometimes non-US customers in particular may have trouble getting their
credit-card transaction to be accepted. If you're unable to signup, please
contact us with your feedback.
Technical
What do I do with these .zip or .rar files?
You can unzip them using programs like
Winzip. On this site we use them to store entire doujins as a single file.
How do I change my account's password or e-mail address?
At h-moe.com you can change
them in your user control panel. Just login and press the "account" link at the
top of the page.
What if I forgot my password?
At h-moe.com's login screen,
press "Forgot Password". A password-reset e-mail will be sent to your e-mail
address, allowing you to change your password.
Can I share my account with other people?
No not really, maybe 1-2 other people. Only one person / computer can be logged
into the site at a time, and the login-system limits accounts to being accessed
by only a small number of IP-addresses, ISPs, countries, and logins per day.
Accounts which exceed those limits will be automatically temporarily suspended,
to protect your account from being stolen. Too many failed login attempts may
also result in your IP-address being temporarily suspended, to prevent hackers
from stealing accounts by guessing passwords.
My account got suspended or stolen? Why can't I login?
If your account has been suspended, stolen, or you're unable to login for
whatever reason, please e-mail us for help.
Doujin-Moe in General
I have a request for something I wanted you to translate!
Sure, you can go ahead and e-mail
us any suggestions you like. When choosing what to translate, we usually
select stuff which has good artwork, will be pretty popular with most of our
readers, and isn't too hardcore.
I want to work for you guys!
Feel free to e-mail
us if you like, we're always looking for doujin translators, editors,
quality-checkers, scanners, artists, people who can color doujins, webmasters
who can update the site, or experienced php web-developers who can help develop
the site. Send us a list of your prior works if possible as well. We usually pay
through PayPal or work through oDesk.
I'm confused, what is Doujin-Moe.com?
We launched in January 2006, and were the original Doujin-Moe.com.
After being with Hentai-Key for more than 3 years, we had to leave on June 4th 2009--if
we didn't, doujin-moe would have no future.
Unfortunately, Hentai-Key technically owned the domain name doujin-moe.com, even
though we built, updated, hosted, and promoted the site by ourselves, so we had to
use the domain name doujin-moe.us (.us as in United States) from then on.
Hentai-Key redirected doujin-moe.com to Nekkos Village (another hentai-key site) for a few months.
In August 2009 they started running an old backup from 2006 of Doujin-Moe (the
latest version they had) at doujin-moe.com. Why? Who knows. In October 2009 they replaced doujin-moe.com with a completely
different Hentai-Key site, largely consisting of translations done by us years
ago, and
proclaiming itself the number-1 doujin site on the Internet. In July 2011 they
abandoned the site entirely. Anyway, whatever goes on
at doujin-moe.com has nothing to do with us anymore.
What is H-Moe.com?
Our sister-site we share memberships with, a site dedicated to streaming
English-fansubbed hentai-movies.
I just got banned from the chat! What the hell?
Your ban will expire after a few hours or days--it depends on how long the admin who banned
you set the ban for. If some admin is abusing their power or you got banned for
some silly reason, e-mail me, give me
your IP, and I'll unban you and talk with whoever banned you incorrectly. Sorry
if some admins are being immature--you should be able to chat and use emoticons
however you like without worrying about being kicked or banned, no matter what
some admin says.
Misc.
Why is hentai always censored?
According to Japanese law, depictions of genitals in porn must be censored.
(Stupid law? Yes, but that's government for you.) In live-action films, this
usually takes the form of mosaic-censor-blurs over the genitals. In doujins, it
usually takes the form of thin black bars placed over the genitals--even though
they don't obscure much it's apparently good enough for the Japanese government.
The amount of censorship varies from publisher to publisher and artist to artist
though--some publishers take a very conservative form of censorship and simply
white-out the genitals altogether for example. Translation-groups often take the
time to edit the artwork and remove the censors though however.
I have another concern not addressed here.
E-mail us for anything you might need, like requests, bug reports, refunds, etc.
Terminology List
-Doujinshi (or doujin): Fan-made amateur comics that usually
parody some other anime, manga, or video game. They don't always have to be
sexual in nature, but usually are. They are fan-published and sold at doujin-events
in Japan, the biggest one of which is Comiket, which takes place twice a year;
once in August, and once in December.
-Hentai: Sexual drawings made in the Japanese-anime style.
-Hentai-Manga (or H-Manga): Commercially-produced and published
hentai comics, drawn by professional hentai artists, meaning their artwork tends
to be higher-quality than fan-produced doujins. They also rarely parody some
other series, and instead almost exclusively feature original characters. They
are published in monthly hentai-magazines (h-magazines), which are anthologies
of dozens of artists' works. If an artist is popular enough, his previous works
are compiled together and published separately as a "tankoubon" or h-manga. Like
manga, they are usually published only in black-and-white.
-Hentai-Game (or H-Game): Erotic visual-novels which are
published and sold in Japan. They are almost always only available on PC, but
sometimes they will be ported to video-game consoles as well (with their
adult-elements removed). Sometimes they incorporate JPRG-elements as well. They
are rarely translated into English because of the large volume of text and the
low demand in US-markets for visual-novels, making them almost exclusively
Japanese.
-CGset: Short for "Computer Game Image Set". They are sets of
erotic images usually taken from Hentai-Games, though sometimes they are
published directly without being incorporated into a game. To save cost, they
tend to be repetitive, in that they reuse the same image, with minor
modifications, half a dozen times; a clever way to stretch-out a limited artwork
budget to form a full story.
-Futanari (or futa): Women with dicks (and sometimes balls
too).
-Kunoichi: A female-ninja.
-Lolicon and Shotacon: Young anime-girl and young anime-boy (in
appearance), respectively.
-Moe: Where our name comes from, it's a Japanese word that literally translates to "passion / infatuation / obsession", and is related
to the Japanese word for fire.
-Netorare: A storyline in which a bad-man steals a woman away
from a good-man who she is already in a relationship with. The bad-man then
corrupts her and usually humiliates the good-man in the process. This storyline
generally pisses off readers since the reader tends to empathize with the
good-man who has been robbed of his wife or girlfriend.
-Yuri: Lesbians / woman-on-woman homosexuality. It is actually
relatively uncommon in Japanese pornography compared to how popular it is in the
United States, because homosexuality is more taboo in Japan, whereas inc*st is
not.
-Yaoi: Male-on-male homosexuality. Trap-yaoi is when one of the
males if very effeminate and dressed like a girl, so much so that he looks
almost like a girl, hence making him a "trap".
